AWARD 1 – Essential Pain Management – Lays the foundations required for healthcare professionals to be able to recognise and assess the pain experienced by people seeking help with their pain, as well as to develop a pain management plan with the person in pain. They will learn to understand pain as a multidimensional experience that is unique to the individual in pain and to understand that each person in pain will be affected in different ways and have their own pain care priorities, thereby providing the basis for an individualised, or person-centred, approach to pain management.
